Lata Berembun waterfall
The off-road adventure
This waterfall is hidden deep in the forest of Raub, with almost 600m altitude, the water is crystal clear as well and super cold. The only way to access this waterfall through 4wd, unless you’re an experienced off-road adventurer, you’ll need to hire a 4wd to bring you there. The terrain condition is really bad and will require a modified 4wd to navigate through the 10+km trail. You can hire a 4wd with the contact number provided in this page or be prepared to hike through more than 10km on a 4wd track. The 4wd will cost around RM400/car which can fit in 4-6 people with full camping equipment, or 6-8 people without camping equipment. The ride itself is quite fun as you’ll be sitting or standing on the back of the truck for more than 1 hour, just be careful with the tree branches.
The campsite
There are a few pondok (gazebos) in the campsite and an under maintained toilet which is totally not usable, more like an abandoned toilet. There aren’t many flat grounds near the waterfall, the large campsite is located just a stone’s throw away from the waterfall which can easily accommodate more than 10 tents. There are a lot of big trees around the campsite as well so hammock camping is possible. The river is easily accessible from the campsite, quite convenient. Make sure you have a good sleeping bag if you camp here, it can get really cold in the midnight. The waterfall has a big and deep pool with strong currents, if you decide to swim there make sure you take precaution and safety measures.
How to get there
Lata Berembun is located at the foothills of Gunung Benum (Mount Benum), which stands at 2107m, the waterfall itself is around 600m elevation. The waterfall is accessed via Kampung Sungai Klau/Chalit in Raub, around 2 hours drive from Kuala Lumpur. There is no public transport available, so if you don’t have a car, why not book a car from Trevo, with just a few clicks, your car will be delivered to your doorstep. Once you arrive at Kampung Sungai Klau, the tour guide will take care of the rest, you’ll just have to sit back and enjoy the fun ride.
