Lata Medang
The waterfall
One of the best hidden gem in Kuala Kubu Bahru, there are multiple tiers of waterfall at Lata Medang, the highest one is a 4/5 storey vertical drop waterfall. To get there, you’ll need to be adequately fit as it takes around 2 to 3 hours hiking, especially if you plan to camp, carrying all your camping equipment to hike is not for everyone. This waterfall is also prone to flash floods, for your own safety, it is best to follow an experienced person. The pool in front of the waterfall is not too deep, just nice for a dip. The rock surfaces are really slippery and you should proceed really carefully.
The campsite
There are some flat grounds here that are suitable for camping, not very big but will be able to fit in 8 to 10 tents without being to cramped. There’s one downside though, during heavy rain some parts of the campsite will have “mini flood”, if you arrive late you’ll have no choice but to camp at those areas. One way to solve this is to dig a drain to divert the water flow, a foldable shovel like this might come in handy.
Most people will choose to camp at Sungai Pertak campsite which is not far from the trailhead and do a day trip to this waterfall, which will save you a lot of energy and safer too.
